CRIME & SAFETY COMMITTEE:
We look to our Crime & Safety Committee to keep the MCA informed of important issues impacting the safety of our neighborhood.  The committee works closely with SFPD and the SF Police Commissioners in order to be aware of crime hot spots, statistics, and new policies effecting the department.  The committee solicits feedback from our membership and serves as our neighborhood voice to SF officials.

IMPORTANT TOPICS 2018:

The Marina Community Association’s Crime and Safety (C&S) Committee set its 2018 priorities to address Marina-specific crime issues. Most notably, the epidemic of vehicle break-ins.  The following initiatives aim to shed light on these issues and provide ways for our neighborhood to be involved and informed.

BALLOT MEASURE TO MODIFY PROP 47 AND PROP 57

Assembly member Jim Cooper (Elk Grove, CA) is in the process of gathering over 350,000 signatures to put on the November 2018 state ballot a measure that would “undo” parts of previous state propositions (47 and 57) that many law enforcement agencies believe have caused the increases in property crimes by releasing criminals from jails and prisons. ARREST AND PROSECUTION TRACKING

A system of tracking arrests and prosecutions with the goal of bringing attention to situations of leniency will educate the public as to how our laws are being enforced, or not being enforced. Read More >>>

MORE POLICE AT SAFEWAY

Marina Safeway should hire additional police through the SFPD 10B1 program.

SFPD PATROL SPECIAL PROGRAM

Patrol Special is a fee-for-service that provides a security patrol, at present, only in limited parts of the Marina.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

We will continue to encourage everyone to join with SFSafe.org to organize a Neighborhood Watch program for their street blocks of the Marina.
